I feel you! I had a mouse in my house years ago, one too smart for traps. Intent on getting the intruder out however I could, I chased the sucker through my living room multiple times, with a broom in my hand and the back door to the deck wide open. Don't ask me how I did it, but I managed to sweep the mouse out the door. Haven't seen one since. Knock on wood.

This is probably not what you want to hear, but the very very best mouse pest control is... A cat!
In my experience as a cat owner, they won't even come near the house. I guess they can smell it. Maybe you could borrow one for a couple of days?
