I’m interrupting my regular posting schedule with a bonus super fun giveaway alert.
Don’t Miss This!
It’s one month !ONE! until my debut novel The Pelican Tide arrives. My publisher, Lake Union Publishing is holding a Goodreads giveaway for 100 digital (eBook) copies to US entrants who enter the giveaway from now through the last day, May 13 to June 10. Enter here!
Spread the word. I would love all 100 copies to be claimed!
If you’re new to Research for Writers and Other Curious People, you may not be aware of my book. You can read an excerpt here.
You can also learn more about the story and its importance to history, the environment, and my life in this past newsletter. And visit my website for lots more content and images.
But wait…there’s more!!!
Raise Your Hand If You Like Free Stuff
The first few weeks of a book launch are important. And while I hope The Pelican Tide will have a long and happy shelf life, I want to celebrate and launch this story with as close to a parade as I can manage.
Will you help?
I’m giving away a Perfectly Pelican launch gift kit for anyone interested in getting the word out on launch day June 11 and the entire week. The launch kit is for U.S. residents only.
The kit includes items that are important to the story
Adorable miniature bottle of hot sauce
Chocolates
Do Not Feed the Pelican stickers

How you can participate
On launch day, June 11 and that entire week week, use the hashtags #thepelicantide and post an image on Instagram, Facebook, or Pinterest, (maybe not X ‘cause y’know) perhaps go wild and make a Tik Tok and tell your friends that The Pelican Tide has debuted and is available through Amazon or anywhere you order books. Download my online press kit for photos and information.
If you purchase or win the book and liked the story, post an honest review on Amazon. Reviews are important for authors and books.
If you’re not someone who buys books that’s okay, please ask your local library to order a copy. It would mean the world to me to know that my book is available to anyone through a public library.
On launch day buy a copy for yourself or to gift to someone. The story is a page-turning beach read.
Suggest The Pelican Tide for your next book club read and I’ll Zoom in for a short author talk and Q&A. Visit my bookclub page for special information.
If any of the above sounds fun and something you’d like to be part of, send me a message and tell me how you want to participate. Maybe you have an idea I haven’t even thought of.
Thanks so much for your support of my work, both this newsletter, which is a true passion project, and my debut book.
I, too, preordered!
Oh darn! I pre-ordered a few months ago (I'm so excited about your book!), but I'll take one of those adorable bottles of Tabasco!
